Self Evaluation

For this project I wanted to apply my personal interests in how technology can influence us and apply it to my work. The particular topics I wanted to cover were based on the rapid advances in artificial intelligence and how computers will eventually surpass humans in terms of intellect and how my may fare from this, as they might see that we’re in their way of progress. I think that a lot of technology that was featured in films of the past few decades such as the self-automated killing machines in Terminator are being are being deployed in the military today. I think machines blur the lines as to what’s morally right and wrong as they may not be advanced enough to tell a civilian and soldier apart yet. I think the first short film ‘Drones’ really reflects well on this sort of subject matter. I wanted to create the phone hacking sequence as a reponse to try and make people realise that technology that a lot take for granted today can be used as a weapon against us, and the process and scanning it is a comment on how we take just skim across unlimited sources of information and how that may backfire on us as computers use it for their own survival.
